Project Overview:
To strengthen Endeavour Energies perimeter and internal defences, Sydco deployed next-generation firewalls across its OT and IT networks. The objective was to control traffic, enforce security policies, and detect malicious activity in real time, while replacing their ageing network infrastructure.
Challenges:
- Existing firewalls lacked next-generation capabilities such as deep-packet inspection.
- There was no centralized management or consistent development model for firewall rules.
- OT teams needed assurance that security controls wouldn’t disrupt operations.
Solution:
We deployed Next-generation Palo Alto firewalls with deep packet inspection capabilities. Rule sets were tailored to each zone, and a centralized management console (Panorama) was introduced for policy updates and monitoring. Change control processes were aligned with operational requirements.
Results:
- Unauthorized traffic was blocked at key network boundaries with a granular rule-set.
- Lion’s security team gained a significant uplift in traffic and threat visibility over their Ot and IT networks.
- The new firewall infrastructure replaced their existing network devices, saving on licensing, and eliminating any single points of failure.
